Nearly ten years after their headquarters’ collaboration with NewGround, DATCU identified the need to transform a longstanding branch location to better meet the needs of their members and staff. The existing site was hindered by inadequate parking, limited accessibility, and a layout that no longer served its members. With a 4,200 sq. ft. footprint and only 22 weeks to complete a full renovation and addition, the project team was tasked with creating a space that was top quality, while remaining on schedule. A major site overhaul was needed, including a rear entrance and additional parking to correct years of access constraints.
The project ultimately succeeded through strong collaboration. The DATCU team remained deeply engaged throughout the entire process, participating in weekly sessions and keeping communication consistent. With the branch temporarily closed, construction teams were able to work efficiently without having to navigate around day-to-day operations.
The North Denton prototype we collaborated on served as the baseline for future design. Incorporating natural light, a more prominent front entry, and branded finishes that reflect consistent branding were the top priorities outside of accessibility. The traditional teller line was redesigned into a modern service center, and ITMs were added for convenience.
On the exterior, the branch gained presence and personality with a newly added tower feature that visually defined the site from the street and provided the team with more natural light. The backlit logo element creates a unique flair against the evening skies. Interior environmental graphics brought local identity to life with a photo-rich hero wall with images sourced from local photographers. Staff spaces were also upgraded, including a new kitchen, branded refrigerator, and enhanced consulting areas.
The updated DATCU branch delivers on all fronts. The new space is accessible, intentionally branded, and thoughtfully designed to serve members in a modern and meaningful way. A reconfigured entrance and additional parking have simplified employee and client flow.
This branch is a reflection of DATCU’s commitment to continuous improvement, thoughtful member experience, and strong growth. The close partnership between NewGround and DATCU enabled the team to deliver the project ahead of schedule and with a quicker turnaround. This project demonstrates how a clear strategy, paired with an aligned team, can bring even the most time-sensitive transformation to life.
